DB: 你从什么时候开始K2Fit事业?为什么取这个名字?When did you start K2Fit and why did you give it this name?

当我充分意识到自己不适合职场工作后,我便于2011年4月成立了K2Fit。我那时厌倦了朝九晚五的生活,我只想快乐生活、享受生活。而健身锻炼和乐于助人一直是我热衷的事情。我只需要跳出一大步让自己真正投入进这件事情。我知道这不容易,但我却相信这是我一生的目标。我之所以给K2Fit这个名字,是因为这是个“Kara to Fitness”(我的名字和健身)的组合词。而这恰好对应了喜马拉雅山中K2的名字。如果你能跨越这座高山,那你绝对能战胜自己!这名字同时也代表了我自己和我的远景。
I started K2Fit in April 2011 after realizing the corporate world of desk jobs was not for me. I was bored in a 9-5 and I just wanted to be happy and have fun. Training and helping people was always my passion, I just needed to take that big leap and commit fully. I knew it would be hard but I believe it was my purpose. The name K2Fit comes from a combination of being “Kara to Fitness” and a reference to the mountain K2 in the Himalayas. Man, if you can climb that mountain, then you’re definitely K2 Fit! I think this name represented me and my vision well.

DB: K2Fit不仅提供各种体能训练让人们健康生活,目前它还与各个餐厅合作出品K2Fit专属营养餐,你能和我们说说这个营养餐计划吗?K2Fit has more than just physical training to help people live a healthy life. It currently works with many restaurants for producing K2Fit healthy cuisines, could you tell us more about that?

我鼓励各家餐厅实行这个计划,这样我们外出时也能享用到不同的健康营养餐。有时候,最糟糕的莫过于压抑正在健身中的自己不能外出就餐,原因是这些餐厅都没有符合自己所需要的营养餐。没人能因为健身节食而坚持呆在家里10周不出门。因此,通过K2Fit认证的营养餐可以让我们正在健身的成员们享受到外出就餐的快感。想时刻保持健康并不是一个问题。这些拥有营养餐的餐厅可为健身群体提供便利的选择。另外,有些餐厅还推出K2Fit营养饮品呢!
I encouraged restaurants to be on board so we could give people options of healthy eating while going out. There’s nothing worse than saying you “can’t” go to a pub because the menu is filled with options that are not ‘health conscious’. No one wants to be stuck at home for 10 weeks because of a restrictive diet. So developing K2Fit Approved Meals at restaurants allows our members to continue to have a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Plus, it adds value to the restaurants by showing they provide health-conscious options to the community. Some even offer K2Fit Approved drinks when you want to have a glass or two. Not 12!

DB: 你在生活中扮演着许多职能不同的角色,你认为这些角色如何成就今天的你?You have played many roles in your life. How do you think these different roles have shaped you into who you are today?

我一生都在运动。身为一个极具团队精神的人,我一直致力于打造最好的自己,这也成了我最大优势,并将这种精神融入了我的事业。在15岁时,我开始了自己第一份工作。当时我加入了麦当劳团队。是的你没看错,我真的在麦当劳工作过。我不认同这类食物的营养价值,而且他们的食物和健身所需的营养不符。在速食店工作并非如健身有一样的成就感,正如你所想那样。因此,健身成为了我终身热衷的事业。经过14年的教练生涯后,我一直坚持健康生活和健康饮食。只是所有人都没想过,那么热衷健康生活的我会被诊断出有癌症(叹息)。从帮助我身边的人,到我身边的人帮助我,这种关系十分微妙。这是传说中的角色转换吗?!经过一年的治疗和化疗,我比以前更积极和有动力。我们每个人都有最困难的时候,但我相信这次经历让我更坚信自己的力量,更积极地去帮助其他人。加油!
As a lifelong athlete, I know that being a team player and being dedicated to shape my character and it has been my greatest strength. I always strive to be the best and that has carried over into my career. At 15, I got my first job, I joined the McDonald’s team. No joke, I worked at Macca’s. I don’t agree with the food and the training there was unmatched. Working in fast food wasn’t as rewarding as training and pushing people to the greater good, as you can imagine. So training became my passion and eventually my life. After coaching for 14 years – living healthy and promoting healthy living – no one was more shocked than me when I got diagnosed with Cancer… #humbling. Going from helping everyone around me, to totally depending on family and friends to help me, really changed the dynamic. Talk about role reversal! After more than a year of surgeries and chemo, I feel more motivated than ever. Knowing that we all have struggles and setbacks, I believe this experience even bettered me for the coaching that I can provide to others. Jia you!

DB: 中国的健身行业一直以男性为主导,而K2Fit的出现正对这单一的局面发起了挑战,你认为女性力量在健身行业有着如何的影响?Fitness industry in China is always perceived to be dominated by men, although the very existence of K2Fit challenges this perception. What do you think of female power in Fitness industry?

是啊,我们正迎难而上!作为一支纯女性团队,我们并不弱小。每位K2Fit的成员都十分热衷并致力于建立一个健康社群。团队的支持是我成功的关键,亦是我不断帮助别人的动力。我在中国认识很多很棒的女性健身教练。教练一职十分需要她的细心和同理心,要由内到外照顾好学员的训练过程与健康状况。在这一方面,谁能比得上女教练?当然是女性当道!不过这并没有针对你们男生哦。如果你也准备好了,我随时带你入队!
Heck yeah, we can challenge it! As a team of all women, we are incredibly strong. Each K2Fit Team member is passionate about creating a healthy community and gives everything of themselves. Having the best in team support is key for me to being able to coach and help as many people as possible. I know a number of great female trainers around China. A huge part of coaching is being compassionate to your people and taking care of them inside out. In considering this, who better to coach than women? Girl power, for sure! No offence boys, and if you’ve got the stuff, I’m ready to bring you on the team.

DB: 许多人在健身时总会半途而废,你每天是如何做到自律训练?你能给想中途放弃的人一些建议吗?Many people will easily give up in the middle of their training plan, how can you manage to discipline yourself and hold on to daily training? Could you give some suggestions to those who are tempted to give up?

见证成效的关键是连续性。是的,你需要一个完善的计划和一个强大的系统支撑你的健身之路。最后,你只需要确保自己能坚持。尽管你不能保证每天都完成自己的计划,但是至少你还是做了。对自己仁慈些,并且不要奢望三周后就会有结果。你的身体需要通过时间进行改造!我从来没听过任何人后悔过健身。他们只是悔恨为什么他们不。拥抱每个小小的进步,你才能真正达到目的的彼岸。最后,你将看到最棒的自己。
The key to seeing results is consistency. Yes, you need a plan to follow and having a strong support system is important as well. Ultimately, you just need to make sure you keep going. Even if you can’t push as hard on one day, you still get something done. Be kind to yourself though, don’t expect results in 3 weeks. Your body takes time to change! I’ve never heard anyone say they regret doing a workout. They only regret when they don’t. Celebrate each small success on the way to your greater goal and you will see what an awesome human you are!
